Pilot Project in Komi and NAO: The International field symposium “Marsh ecosystems of the North-East of the Europe”, the workshop “The issues of environmental restoration in the permafrost zone”, 22 July – 4 August 2017, Inta, Syktyvkar, Naryan-Mar

Dear colleagues, 

We invite you to participate in the International Field Symposium “Marsh Ecosystems of the North-East of Europe”, including the workshop “The Issues of Environmental Restoration in the Permafrost Zone”. 

The Symposium will be held within the framework of the implementation of the UNDP/GEF/EU project “Strengthening Protected Area System of the Komi Republic to Conserve Virgin Forest Biodiversity in the Pechora River Headwaters Region”. 

Its objective is to contribute to a wider exchange of knowledge in the field of the diversity and distribution of the types of bogs in the North-East of Europe, evaluation of the biodiversity, natural functions and ecosystem services of permafrost bogs and marshy forests, integrated environmental monitoring of marsh ecosystems, the role of bogs in the global carbon cycle and climate change-related processes, including the issues of man impact and disturbed ecosystems restoration.
